ALL SMILES: POT CARAMELS
About an hour ago, before I cleaned up, vacuumed, answered a few e-mails, I had a POT CARAMEL. Needless to say the 420 bomb, has riddled my neurons with THC, but only in the most seductive manner: a rich chocolate, covered in sea-salt and filled with just the right amount of ooey-gooey pot-laced caramel…and it comes on slow.

Gravity and sun dictate where the water goes, so quite naturally this was a great spot for me to work: a puddle next to the cracks that divide the various installations of asphalt. Neenelic rhythms here.

POP! Goes the fashion…This is one of several pieces done for a campaign shooting Madison Avenue’s reigning POP Queen, Lisa Perry. And she does it all, fashion, handbags, home and lifestyle too. POP! POP! POP!
STREET TREAT: DIG IN
…and boy oh boy! They sure have been doing some kinda som’n to our lovely streets! Let’s play a game: how many different times have they dug up this lovely piece of real-estate? I see no less than 8 different jobs here. WOW! Bloomberg really has his act together!

Two of my favorite types of street treat: street language and a spill. Bloomberg’s guys are doing their paint thing as usual and then somebody dumped this white liquid…which tasted like milk! A great illustration of New York’s potential for all types of aesthetic! Let’s not even get started on the fact that it resembles a cat in profile… WHOA!

STUDIO VISIT: SHAUN ROSS
Shaun has unique perspective, as he is the only albino, African-American, male model out there! He is simultaneously masculine and feminine and I love his street style! You can see Shaun in Katy Perry’s video “ET” and Beyoncé’s video “Party”, let alone numerous photo shoots for GQ, Vogue, i-D and Paper magazines. I can’t wait to get this guy in front of my lens again!

Thompkins Square Park on a 75* day: Time to chalk my friends! This collab with 2 kids, 6 & 4. Dappled light enhances the moment, but also illustrates the concept behind the chalk art. PEACE!

Sand and stone are things photographers and artists gravitate to…on the beach! When it happens on New York City streets- it’s a whole ‘nother deal! Some lame construction crew decided it would be better to spill their load of sand on the cobblestone streets of the West Village then on their actual work site! Kudos! Well, it works for me. Sand and stone, mother earth,organic…Blah, blah, blah. FOUND ART!

CHALK IT UP: MONSTER
“Outsider” art has intrigued me for a long time. The mind of a child is fertile ground and chalk art is an amazing way to explore and create. This monster was created by a 5-year-old, and some 4-year-olds embellished, with some apprehension by the artist. The collaboration is none-the-less, very impressive – and scary!

BEATBOX: KID LUCKY
YO! YO! YO! KID LUCKY in da house! The one and only Kid Lucky at the mic! The American Human Beatbox Festival, curated by Kid Lucky, happened last weekend at LaMama Theater in the East Village and was one of the most entertaining events in recent memory. DJ’s, rappers and of course Beatboxers of all kind were in the show. It felt like a TRUE New York moment - something that was born and bred here! NEW YORK BABY!!!

I recently had the pleasure of meeting a bonafied talent: singer/songwriter and Malaysian beauty, Yuna Zarai. Her sultry voice brings you in and when accompanied by full orchestration you’re hooked! Her debut album drops this fall and if her track “Live Your Life”, produced by Pharrell Williams, is any indication, we will be humming her tunes all day long.

DESIGN: COCO && BREEZY
The ultra-hip duo Coco && Breezy are making their name in a big way. Originally from Minnesota, these sisters’ creativity brought them to New York where they are designing the most current sunglasses and fashion pieces. Usually the stuff is garnished with studs, spikes and chains and although stars like Lady Gaga are sporting them, Coco && Breezy themselves may be their own best models!
